Jesus sent his Holy Spirit to empower each and every one of us to be witnesses. He commissioned us to share the truth of the gospel throughout the world, starting with where we are right now.

'But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.' (Acts 1:8)

We believe Jesus’ purpose for us is as important today as it was for the disciples in the early church. To be witnesses in all we say and do, whether by words, works or wonders, is a natural outworking of being a spirit-filled people. We want to share and celebrate our stories, however insignificant they may feel, to encourage one another as we step out in faith.

Below are some helpful resources and stories that we hope will encourage you and help you in your journey of sharing the truth of the gospel in your local community.

If you have a story to share we would love to hear from you too!

Words, works and wonders

Three little words with big impact on our witness ...

'When they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious about how you should defend yourself or what you should say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.' (Luke 12:11-12)

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, the disciples of the early church prayed for the right words to say as they shared their faith. Our words are so important - as well as giving reasons for our faith, our words can speak the truth of the Bible into the hearts of those around us. Most importantly, we can use our words to introduce someone to Jesus.

'…they asked us to remember the poor, the very thing I was eager to do.' (Galatians 2:10)

Jesus showed us how to care for those around us. This is outworked today in the same way; from church initiatives into the community, to loving our friends through everyday acts of kindness and caring for our neighbours and family in times of need. We can also see the gospel outworked in this way through larger efforts, such as Pathways From Poverty. We believe that this should start wherever we are, being filled with the spirit to show kindness to those we encounter throughout our daily lives.

'And Stephen, full of grace and power, was doing great wonders and signs among the people.' (Acts 6:8)

As we rely on the Holy Spirit we want to step out more in praying for healing and salvation, expecting in faith to receive words of knowledge, and to have the courage and obedience to follow when God speaks. We want to encourage and challenge one another to share our stories of what God is doing through us, and to know that he can achieve more when we ask to receive the gift of his Spirit.
