We are Hope Church situated in Tweedbank and Galashiels in the beautiful Scottish Borders, a 50 minute train ride away from the historic city of Edinburgh.
Hope Church began in 2013, when a core team of people were generously released from Selkirk Baptist Church to form this church plant. We believed that God was reminding us of His promise, 'I will build my church.' That is just what God has been doing among us! As we have stepped out in faith seeking unity with other local churches, we have grown in number, known His presence, known healings and stories of restoration as lives are changed by Jesus.
On a Sunday we meet in Tweedbank Community Centre and our church family consists of around 120 people, made up of all ages and backgrounds, because of our growth we are actively praying for a larger Sunday venue.
In the February of 2017 we were given a prophetic word regarding a mid-week building which God would bring to us, it would be central, it would be visible and through it we would reach many people. In July 2017 we saw this prophecy become a reality as we received the keys for Hope Central, our town centre location in Galashiels. We are currently operating an open door to the town from Tuesday to Friday, where we see people come in for coffee, engage in conversation and prayer. We run special events here and all our mid-week gatherings such as Hope Prayer, Hope Men, Hope Women and Hope Youth.
The vision for our church is simply this: to make God famous in our part of the world, through our lives, as church family and as we go about our day to day routine. We don't believe that God is limited because we are in smaller towns but believe that He is well able to build His church and do far more than we can even begin to imagine.
We would love to see an intern join our current team and help us build some of the following areas depending on your passion and interest: the worship team, kids, youth work & young adults. We believe that growth is often through families and we want to put resources into these significant areas. We have openings into schools and would love to see schools work such as assemblies develop. We would also love to accommodate your gifting and grow you in your season with us.
Hope Church would be privileged to pay for your ID fees and will endeavour to find suitable accommodation within the church family.
MORE ABOUT ID:
Why be an ID intern?
ID is a year-long church internship program designed to help you walk with Jesus into the adventures that he has for you. Over the course of the year you'll be immersed in the life and mission of a local church, where you can serve in a wide variety of exciting ministries and be lovingly discipled. We also expose you to exciting missional opportunities with Relational Mission churches in the UK and Europe.
We want to intentionally disciple you. To help you grow in knowledge and passion for God, to learn you are you, and how you can live and speak for Jesus in every area of life.
Why host or send an ID intern?
Our hope is that ID not only blesses the individual interns but also the churches that host and send them. Having an ‘IDer’ in your church who is well invested in and given opportunities to serve and step out demonstrates a commitment to investing in individuals.
Likewise, sending folks on ID shows that as a church you are committed to Christ’s commission and value the apostolic as much as the local.
So, who could you send onto the course? Could your church offer someone a placement?
Who is it for?
Anyone aged 18+ who is able to take a year out and who wants to grow in their faith.
ID can be a wonderful opportunity for college/school leavers to get a solid foundation of theology and character before heading to the work place or off to university. Likewise for those finishing university considering what to do next. We have also had a good number of men and women in their twenties and thirties take career breaks in order to do the course. We haven't yet had anyone in retirement come onto the course, but we’re open to that!
I'm in! How do I apply?
The application process can be found on the ID webpage. Applicants complete an online form which comes through to the ID team who then contact the sending church to discuss the applicant and the placement options available.
Or you can contact Matt Fell directly to ask any questions and to find out more.
