Community Church Ramsgate (CCR) is located on the beautiful Kent coast. Like many coastal towns around the UK it has areas of outstanding beauty mixed with areas of deprivation and poverty. Ramsgate needs the gospel and it needs the gospel community.

CCR was planted in 2011 and is now 7 years old. Over this time we have seen 35 people baptised and the church continues to grow in depth and reach into the town. We have around 80 adults and 50 children who call CCR their home.

We feel called to plant at least two more small-and-connected congregations in our district, Thanet, with the hope to start 'Mission Margate' as soon as possible.

In 2017 we were asked to run a community building 'The Corner' and we have spent the last year developing our life and service from our new 'home and centre of mission'.

As well as serving in the church gatherings, community groups and Alpha courses, there would be several project areas that you could be involved in.

The Corner Coffee House - This is a new and busy project located in the heart of the community. We run the coffee shop and indoor play space as a 'foundation-program' for meeting new people in the community and supporting the life and mission of all areas of the church.

CAP Debt Centre - We run our busy CAP centre across the district, with a vision to develop a Job Club and Release Group in the near future.

Connections at the Corner - We run a friendship group and lunch for the local elderly, and a weekly support group for families with children on the autistic spectrum.

topUP - we support the local elderly with their isolation and well-being & in accessing the benefits they are entitled to.

Linking Lives - a new home-visiting project to support, pray-for and share the gospel with the local isolated and elderly

Children's & Youth Work – Working alongside our children's & youth work team, you would be involved in all aspects of our children's & youth work including the weekly Sunday groups, after school youth club and the annual Youth Weekend Away retreat & Newday (which we would fund).

Funding & housing

We have the potential for paying a proportion of your ID fee. You would be housed with a member of the church and receive a small amount of pocket money if needed.

MORE ABOUT ID:

Why be an ID intern?

ID is a year-long church internship program designed to help you walk with Jesus into the adventures that he has for you. Over the course of the year you'll be immersed in the life and mission of a local church, where you can serve in a wide variety of exciting ministries and be lovingly discipled. We also expose you to exciting missional opportunities with Relational Mission churches in the UK and Europe.

We want to intentionally disciple you. To help you grow in knowledge and passion for God, to learn you are you, and how you can live and speak for Jesus in every area of life.

Why host or send an ID intern?

Our hope is that ID not only blesses the individual interns but also the churches that host and send them. Having an ‘IDer’ in your church who is well invested in and given opportunities to serve and step out demonstrates a commitment to investing in individuals.

Likewise, sending folks on ID shows that as a church you are committed to Christ’s commission and value the apostolic as much as the local.

So, who could you send onto the course? Could your church offer someone a placement?

Who is it for?

Anyone aged 18+ who is able to take a year out and who wants to grow in their faith.

ID can be a wonderful opportunity for college/school leavers to get a solid foundation of theology and character before heading to the work place or off to university. Likewise for those finishing university considering what to do next. We have also had a good number of men and women in their twenties and thirties take career breaks in order to do the course. We haven't yet had anyone in retirement come onto the course, but we’re open to that!

I'm in! How do I apply?

The application process can be found on the ID webpage. Applicants complete an online form which comes through to the ID team who then contact the sending church to discuss the applicant and the placement options available.

Or you can contact Matt Fell directly to ask any questions and to find out more.
