🇩🇪 DE: „Die ganze Welt kommt nach Wacken – und wir bringen die gute Nachricht von Jesus mitten hinein!“
Während des Wacken Open Air 2025 durften wir hunderten Festivalbesuchern begegnen, für viele beten, ihnen von Jesus erzählen und ihnen Gottes Wort in die Hand geben.
Vom 28. Juli bis zum 3. August hatten wir als Team die Möglichkeit, am Rande des Wacken Open Air Festivals zu evangelisieren. Wacken ist ein kleines Dorf in Norddeutschland, das einmal im Jahr zur Bühne für eines der größten Heavy-Metal-Festivals der Welt wird. Rund 80.000 Metal-Fans aus aller Welt strömen dann in das Dorf, um gemeinsam zu feiern.
Der Missionsbefehl in Matthäus 28 ermutigt uns, in die ganze Welt zu gehen. Wenn die Welt direkt zu uns kommt, nehmen wir diesen Auftrag gerne genau hier an. Seit 2011 sind wir deshalb in Wacken mit der Metal-Bibel unterwegs. Sie enthält das Neue Testament sowie persönliche Lebensberichte von Christen aus der Heavy-Metal-Szene. Ursprünglich war es Roul Akesson, Leiter von Bible for the Nations, der mit der Idee und der Metal-Bibel auf uns zukam. Heute organisieren wir den Einsatz gemeinsam mit Geschwistern aus verschiedenen lokalen Kirchen.
In diesem Jahr waren wir etwa 50 Christen vor Ort, darunter auch Geschwister aus den Relational-Mission-Gemeinden in Wilster und Brunsbüttel. Weitere Gemeinden aus der Region haben uns durch Gebet und Spenden unterstützt.
Während des Festivals kamen wir mit vielen Besuchern ins Gespräch, hörten ihre Geschichten, beteten mit und für sie und gaben ihnen eine Metal-Bibel weiter – insgesamt rund 6.000 Stück!. Parallel dazu gab es in unserem Camp durchgehend Lobpreis und Gebet. Zudem unterstützte uns eine WhatsApp-Gebetsgruppe mit rund 50 Personen, die den Einsatz intensiv im Gebet begleitete.
Für uns war es bewegend zu erleben, wie offen viele Menschen gegenüber dem Evangelium waren. Viele nahmen die Metal-Bibel sofort mit Freude entgegen oder waren tief berührt von der Liebe und Offenheit, die ihnen begegnete. Mehrere Festivalbesucher baten uns, mit ihnen zu beten – manche wünschten sich, dass Jesus in ihr Leben kommt, andere suchten Heilung. In allem vertrauen wir darauf, dass Gottes Wort in ihren Herzen weiterarbeitet.
Unser besonderer Dank gilt allen Gemeinden, die uns mit Gebet, praktischer Hilfe und finanzieller Unterstützung zur Seite standen. Bitte betet auch weiterhin für die Menschen, die wir erreichen durften – dass Gottes Geist ihnen begegnet und sie Jesus Christus persönlich kennenlernen.

Billy ist mit Rebecca verheiratet und stolzer Vater von Tim (8 Jahre alt) und Jan (5 Jahre alt). Er liebt es, als Ältester in seiner Kirche in Wilster, der Evangelischen Freikirche Wilstermarsch, zu dienen, und eine seiner größten Freuden ist es, mehr über Jesus zu erfahren und seine Liebe mit den Menschen um ihn herum auf jede erdenkliche Weise zu teilen!
Evangelism at Wacken Open Air 2025
🇬🇧ENG: ‘The whole world comes to Wacken – and we bring the good news of Jesus right into the middle of it!’
During Wacken Open Air 2025, we had the opportunity to meet hundreds of festival-goers, pray for many of them, tell them about Jesus and give them God's Word.
From 28 July to 3 August, our team had the opportunity to evangelise on the fringes of the Wacken Open Air Festival. Wacken is a small village in northern Germany that once a year becomes the stage for one of the world's largest heavy metal festivals. Around 80,000 metal fans from all over the world flock to the village to celebrate together.
The Great Commission in Matthew 28 encourages us to go into all the world but when the world comes directly to us, then we gladly accept this commission on our doorstep. That is why, since 2011, we have been going to the Wacken Festival with the Metal Bible. The ‘Metal Bible’ contains the New Testament as well as personal testimonies from Christians in the heavy metal music scene. Roul Akesson, director of Bible for the Nations, originally approached us with the idea and the Metal Bible. Today, we organise the outreach together with brothers and sisters from various local churches.
This year, there were about 50 Christians on site, including brothers and sisters from the Relational Mission churches in Wilster and Brunsbüttel. Other churches in the region supported us through prayer and donations.
During the festival, we talked to many visitors, listened to their stories, prayed with and for them, and gave them a metal Bible – around 6,000 in total! At the same time, there was continuous worship and prayer in our camp. We were also supported by a WhatsApp prayer group of around 50 people who supported the mission intensively in prayer.
It was moving for us to see how open many people were to the gospel. Many immediately accepted the metal Bible with joy or were deeply touched by the love and openness they encountered. Several festival visitors asked us to pray with them – some wanted Jesus to come into their lives, others sought healing. In all things, we trust that God's Word will continue to work in their hearts.
We would like to express our special thanks to all the churches that supported us with prayer, practical help and financial support. Please continue to pray for the people we were able to reach – that God's Spirit will touch them and that they will come to know Jesus Christ personally.
