We are regularly reminded that our abilities are not enough. These experiences are slowly, and sometimes painfully, shifting our confidence from our own abilities, ideas, and plans to God’s. The fruit of this in our lives is greater peace and awareness of our union with Christ.

Nearly two decades in Japan have only reinforced what Nilesh has long believed: the country needs missionaries and church planters who are not only willing to be sent but also equipped to do God’s work with wisdom, cultural understanding, resilience and gospel depth.

When we first started these prayer evenings, the plan was to commit to a year of prayer meetings. However, the meetings have been marked by such fervency—people praying from the heart—and by the strong, sustained presence of God that it felt unthinkable to bring them to an end.
