Seoul Church: 2023 Highlights

In September 2017 three friends relocated from the London (UK) to Seoul (South Korea) to start a YouTube channel. What began as a Christ-centred journey into launching new careers in content creation has since blossomed into something bigger than they could have imagined.

Dan, one of the elders, shares an update.

We continue to prioritise and emphasise fellowship with food, coffee, prayer and the Word throughout the week, while we are also always blessed by coming together as a whole church for our Sunday meetings, always followed by lunch and coffee together. God has grown us spiritually and numerically, and we now have usually between 30 and 40 people at our Sunday meetings.

January

Mike Bollinger and Simon Tarry flew over to Seoul to lay hands on our first four elders/pastors. What a blessing to have these wise brothers visit us, and to share in the joy of what God is building here as he led us in the next step as a church.

March

Two new babies are born into the church (a boy and a girl, born to two of our elders). Praise God that He is growing our church through new children!

April

We have our first baptisms! Two people - one Korean, one British - each from very different backgrounds and journeys with Jesus, publicly declared their salvation with a baptism service. A local international school, where two of our members work, allowed us to use their pool for free! What a blessing that day was!

July

We hold our first church retreat. Three days in the countryside northeast of Seoul having fellowship, food and times of worshipping Jesus together through the Word, songs and prayer. We felt God giving us amazing joy in our unity, and He also blessed abundantly by giving us fellowship with the people who run the retreat centre.

Church retreat: Time for teaching

September

Joel - one of our new elders - and Jee got married. We had so many visitors from many countries, including Stef Liston and Rich Young from Revelation Church London. It was an amazing blessing to celebrate Joel and Jee's wedding and new marriage, and enjoy fellowship with Stef and Rich and teaching from them in various meetings afterwards.

November

Several of our members visited Nagoya, Japan, for a conference held by the RM church plant there.

December

We have a Christmas church service and party. We hired a space and had an amazing service of worship through songs, prayers, testimonies and Bible teaching, followed by a feast!

Please pray for God's clear and wonderful leading as we start 2024, that we might glorify Him in all aspects of our church life, and see many people be saved this year!

Thanks for reading and what a blessing it is to have brothers and sisters praying for us around the world. We pray for you too! We love you all!
